In 2001, the cologne X-Centric was launched by the designer Dunhill. The perfumers behind this creation were Maurice Roucel and Volke Franck.
Colognes are made up of alcohol, water, and fragrance oil. Each cologne has a varying level of each component. This is what determines a cologne’s strength. Dunhill X-Centric has the strength eau de toilette. The strongest is Parfum, which possesses about 15%-25% fragrance oil. The weakest is eau de cologne, which possesses about 2%-5% fragrance oil. The intermediate strengths are eau de toilette, which have 4%-15% fragrance oil, and eau de parfum, which have 10%-20% fragrance oil. Dunhill X-Centric Cologne possesses about 4% and 15% of fragrance oil.
According to the Michael Edwards Fragrance Wheel classification system, all fragrances fall into one of fourteen Families. X-Centric Cologne belongs to the Aromatic Family. This Family is made distinct from the other fourteen Families by its more dominant use lavender and aromatic herbs.
There are four more subdivisions within each Fragrance Family. These subdivisions are called Fresh, Crisp, Classical, and Rich. Fresh is the brightest and highest interpretation of the Family, and Rich is the deepest and richest interpretation. X-Centric Dunhill is part of the Fresh interpretation of the Aromatic Family.
The life of every fragrance progresses through three stages. They are referred to as Top Notes, Middle Notes, and Base Notes. These stages are a result of the varying levels of volatility of the fragrance notes that make up a fragrance. In other words, some fragrance ingredients in X-Centric will evaporate faster than others, therefore producing different impressions at certain stages of its life on the skin.
Top Notes are the initial impact a perfume gives when applied to the skin, and lasts about 10 to 20 minutes. The Top Notes for Dunhill X-Centric are Nutmeg, Cypress, Cinnamon, Green Leaves, Clary Sage, Grapefruit and Cardamom.
The Middle Notes for X-Centric Cologne are Cedar, Lotus, Rose, and Freesia. These fragrance notes form the main body of a perfume and are long lasting.
The scent that emerges once the Middle Notes start to fade is called Base Notes. They give the fragrance its holding power by helping to slow down the stages of evaporation of the lighter notes. The Base Notes for X-Centric Dunhill include Ambergris, Guaiac Wood, Musk, Patchouli, and Sandalwood.
If you like X-Centric, you would probably like other fragrances that belong to the Aromatic Family. Some suggestions are Burberry for Men, Eternity by Calvin Klein, Wings for men by Giorgio Beverly Hills, Canoe by Dana, and Curve Crush by Liz Claiborne.
