We all know about the important role vitamin C plays in our body, but not all of us fully understand what vitamin C can benefit us exactly and why the liquid form carries an advantage over other forms. In recent years, vitamin C has also been accredited for being a powerful antioxidant that helps regulate cell-destroying free radicals that are the natural by-product of oxidation.

Despite the obvious importance of the vitamin and its availability, some people still suffer from its deficiency. It is estimated that at least one fourth to a half of the grown-ups do not take enough vitamin C. Unknowingly these individuals may become more susceptible to such conditions as the virus-induced colds or gum bleeding. Others may have such poor immunity that infections can become common. Scurvy is also a typical consequence of not having the right amounts of vitamin C in the body.

As always, the best sources of vitamin C are natural food. This means you have to make sure that you have a daily ration of citrus fruits like lemons and oranges. It has been suggested though that vitamin C in the liquid form is the best choice, as vitamin is better absorbed by our body when taken in the liquid form.

Overdose

In rare instances, some people may get too much vitamin C in their bodies. The most typical symptom is diarrhea. Extreme cases may lead to temporary fatigue and nausea. In even rarer cases, iron poisoning may occur.

It is important to see your doctor if you are taking other supplements and medication or if you have a serious medical condition. In some of these cases, vitamin C may result in negative reactions. Some individuals for example may be at risk of rare iron toxicity because vitamin C increases the absorption rates of iron.

You should also be careful with the specific liquid vitamin C that you choose to take. As much as possible, you should try to steer clear of products with strong artificial additives. In any case, do not hesitate to consult a qualified health care expert for recommendations on good brands.
