Eyeshadow Application And Selection Information

With eyeshadow, you can enhance your eyes in many different ways, from making them more shapely to adding dashes of appropriate color and accent. You can find a variety of shades and types of eyeshadow, even red eyeshadow. It can get to the point where you might not know what to go with.

A good way to apply eyeshadow is to not just use one shade but three. By applying a lighter shade just under the brow you can make a highlight. The medium shade should be what you apply to the eyelid and then a darker shade still for the crease of the eyelid. This alone can really bring out your eyes and add depth to their look.

Prior to applying your eyeshadow, it is helpful to apply a small amount of face powder to the eyelid area, using a powder puff, cotton ball or eyeshadow brush. The reason for this, is that the powder will provide a base for your eyeshadow, as well as absorb any excess oil that may be on the surface, and smooth out the surface of the eyelid, making it easier to blend your eyeshadow colors.

When purchasing eyeshadow colors, most people will choose an ample selection of the more neutral colors, like browns, charcoals, smoky grays and beiges, in addition to some special colors, like greens, blues, mauves and other lighter shades, to be used for highlighting. You can combine your basic colors in a variety of ways to create both a casual daytime look, as well as a more dramatic look that may be worn in the evening.

Cream eyeshadow has been becoming quite popular lately and if you choose a matte shade you will find that it’s very easy to apply. Some people prefer more traditional powdered eyeshadow that are applied to the eyes with the use of a brush or a spongy applicator. You can even find eyeshadow in mineral form or eyeshadow which can be drawn-on with a crayon and even eyeshadow in the form of a sponge-tipped wand.

Consider your overall complexion when deciding which eyeshadow colors to buy. Many times women with pale skin will choose darker colors, while women with darker skin choose lighter colors with a frosty hue.

This makes them look unnatural by the time they’re done. If you pick appropriately intense colors that can complement your skin tone, whatever it may be, your eye makeup can look absolutely beautiful.
