Creating The Prettiest Smile: The Best Teeth Whitening Kits

An increasing percentage of people are become concerned about their smiles, fearing that stained, discolored teeth will make them less attractive when they smile. Therefore, they search for the best teeth whitening kits. Many find the prospect of obtaining the assistance of a cosmetic dentist a cost-prohibitive proposition, and so elect to attempt more affordable treatments at home.

A number of the available kits advertise the ability to offer significant success after only a few treatments. The manufacturers of Zoom Weekender’s Kit, for example, claim that reliable whitening results of up to six shades can be attained after only three applications. Although these treatments require the person to spend four to six hours in completing them, they can be performed at home, without requiring expensive visits to a cosmetic dentist. According to Consumer Reports, this home kit has achieved the most consistently reliable results.

Another product, Crest Whitestrips Premium, is much less expensive than Zoom home kits, but the results do not last as long. Furthermore, the requirement that these strips directly encounter the stains can make their use difficult in places that are hard to reach. This product results in an average lightening of at least 3 shades; however, they require applications twice daily of 30 minutes each time. In addition, these strips often result in drooling, so they are best used at home.

The GoSmile Advanced Formula B1 is an alternative that features small tubes of 6 percent hydrogen peroxide. These are squeezed onto a brush and swabbed over the surface of the teeth. The brush can reach inconvenient spots that the strips cannot, and the kit is handy because the treatment does not need to be removed before leaving home. Although some notice effectiveness after only a few treatments, others may not notice measurable results quickly.

Another kit designed for use at home is the Aquafresh White Tray. This product features a generic tray that is to be filled with whitening gel and placed in the user’s mouth. The gel’s formula is proprietary, and Aquafresh declines to release the percentage of hydrogen peroxide used. In addition, these trays offer no means by which the user’s lips and gums may be protected from the effects of the compound. Many users have reported significantly uncomfortable, though temporary, gum pain, from use of this product.

Another product, the Supernova Whitening Kit, offers affordability and convenience. Purchasers are invited to create casts of their own teeth and use these to develop trays in which the whitening gel is placed. This company offers step-by-step instructions and a money-back guarantee in the event the user is not completely satisfied with his or her purchase.

One other company, Online Dental Lab, advertises themselves to be the first to offer whitening products to clients without requiring a visit to a dentist. Purchasers create molds of their teeth following instructions in the kit, and send these molds to the lab, where a dental tray is made that specially fits the buyer’s mouth. This company also offers a money-back guarantee.

Countless articles advertising products that can whiten teeth are available. The compounds used in each of these include either a variable percent of hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide. Some of these products have been the subject of research efforts; however, the efficacy and convenience of each of these products is the subject of some debate. For consumers determined to attempt whitening without first consulting a dentist, a few suggestions can be made. First, look for a kit that offers plenty of information about the product you plan to use. In addition, consider selecting a kit that offers a refund in the event you are not satisfied with the results.
